Christine Ko made her first piece of jewelry, 3 years ago, a crystal bra strap that she wore personally without ever giving any thought to the possibility of selling them. Being an aspiring actress/cocktail server in LA she wore the jewelry as an extra touch to her work uniform and received numerous compliments and inquiries on where she purchased the pieces. Then the day came where a customer asked to literally buy it off her back. Christine started her own company, starting with ten crystal bra straps and sold them at a local trunk show in Los Angeles.

That evening she sold eight of the ten straps and met Quinton Van Der Burgh. Founder of Quinton Van Der Burgh Investments (PTY) ltd with a marketing and business background in telecom, mining, and many other industries, Quinton was intrigued by her ideas. Being an entrepreneur himself, he began to discuss the possibilities of turning Kaiio into a global brand. In August 2013 Christine Ko and Quinton Van der Burgh partnered and created Kaiio, LLC.
