With this simple but powerful philosophy, Eyethu Coal, a black empowered company, mine coal under their own licenses and are constantly exploring the Mpumalanga region of South Africa for new coal reserves, proving their philosophy, over and over again.
With Wayne can der Burgh at the helm, assisted by Jacob Nkosi, Debra Moosa and Quinton Van Der Burgh, Eyethu Coal’s first operation at Black Wattle Colliery commenced in July 2006. A washing plant soon followed. Eyethu Coal is a large supplier of coal to Eskom, as well as procuring coal discard dumps and the beneficiation thereof to Eskom, and supplies A Grade Coal to the export market.
Currently Eyethu Coal has two operational mines with expansion plans for several operations in 2013 and new operations coming on line in 2014 as well as mining ventures with Siyabusa Mining (Pty) Ltd, Anglo American, Glencore and other key mining companies. Eyethu Coal also procures coal discard dumps and the beneficiation thereof to supply Eskom.
Eyethu’s most recent acquisition were the Mooifontien Colliery and a washing plant. With a 600% growth in the last financial year the team at Eyethu Coal continue to follow their philosophy of success.
